Ready to place a 3D Model order On-Demand? First, know your use case

First, create an account with Modelry here, where you can place a single or small batch order directly from your device.

Before placing an order, it’s important to know exactly where your 3D model will be published. Understanding which channel and what purpose it will be used for is necessary to identify the file type, which can also determine whether a 3D or AR viewer can be applied.

If you still have not defined your 3D strategy, start here for a quick walk through.

Let’s explore the various scenarios.

  1. E-Commerce channels - If you plan to sell directly on an e-commerce channel(s), it’s recommended to check compatibility with low weight or high weight 3D files and viewers. If you want the images to load quickly for the customer, this means you will likely want to order a low poly file which comes in GLTF,GLB,USDZ or FBX file formats. This is a particularly safe choice for a product that does not need to be photorealistic, but instead a highly accurate depiction of the product. If you would like a photorealistic equivalent, then a high poly model would be ideal, but first test to see if a higher resolution model will be compatible with the e-commerce channel you will be leveraging.
  2. 3D viewer - A 3D viewer allows the customer to interact with the model, providing an immersive experience unachievable with static 2D images. This is a great option for  products that contain many features or details, such as accessories, electronics, and appliances, so the customer can assess and purchase with confidence. A 3D viewer is embeddable on a website and can host a low poly model for faster load times or a high poly model, which is a heavier file, but provides a photorealistic version.
  3. AR viewer - An AR viewer, requires a low poly 3D model. AR is particularly useful for virtual “try-ons” directly from your device, be that shoes, furniture, sunglasses, and more.
  4. 3D Advertising - Due to the small sizes of banner ads, low poly models are necessary. Modelry automatically delivers file types compatible with platforms such as Meta, Google Swirl, and Yahoo Carousel.
  5. Photorealistic Models - If you’re on the market for an array of 3D images that are identical to a photo of the product, then a high poly file is required. High poly images are delivered in 3ds max model with V-ray render engine. These models are delivered as models, renders, and with a spinnable 360 degree embed.
  6. Lifestyle Scenes - Lifestyle scenes are a versatile way to showcase 3D products and adjust product catalogs. Since they replicate photographic images, high resolution models are necessary. 3ds Max with a VRay render engine will deliver high fidelity texture and color for a photorealistic model.
