2021 was a big year for the 3D industry and for the Modelry team! Our parent company CGTrader has been supplying 3D models for over 10 years, but this year was by far the most exciting for all of us in the 3D world. Here’s a look at our company highlights over the past year.

Record Number of 3D Models Delivered

In November alone, Modelry delivered a record 4,300 3D models to our B2B customers; a figure that is set to double in the very near future. Unlike other 3D companies that rely on an in-house design team, Modelry taps into CGTrader’s extensive network of 4.7 million designers and users, making us the most scalable 3D company in the world.

2x New Customer Deals Closed

Compared to last year, we doubled our customer acquisition, signing deals with major brands from Google to Nvidia. Our customer base is truly global, with 1/3 based in the US and another third in Europe, providing 3D solutions across several verticals

Doubled Our Team Members

As part of CGTrader, we are proud of our company growth from 65 in 2020 to 125 members in 2021. Our growth benefited from the introduction of a work-from-anywhere (WFA) policy that saw us add new team members from all over the world. In 2022, we will continue to grow the team, and are currently hiring for several big positions! Check out our open roles.

Incorporated in the United States

A major company milestone was our incorporation in the US. As a global, fast-growing company, our US position enables us to better serve our growing list of US customers in one of our most important markets.

Launched 3 Major New Marketing Projects

The marketing team launched three major new projects aimed at spreading awareness of our brand and the pain points that 3D can solve.

Global Cost Research: A study of 100+ photo studios worldwide that compared the cost of photography to 3D and revealed that brands can save on average six times with 3D.

Cost Calculator: An AI-powered cost calculator to give instant quotes for your 3D needs. All you need to provide is your intended use case and a product image or URL and the calculator does its magic.

Lifestyle Scenes Catalog: An online library of ready-made lifestyle scenes that can be customized to suit your needs. Place your products inside any scene, or request a custom scene.

Published Over 30 Blog Posts

The Modelry blog is an excellent resource for customers getting started with 3D. In 2021, we continued to build out our Knowledge Base, Case Studies, Inspiration, and Learning Hub categories to show customers what they can do with 3D, including more step-by-step instructions on how to make the most of our services.

Attended Our First In-Person Conference in Over a Year

Attracting over 3,000 visitors and 200 exhibitors in the heart of Silicon Valley, AWE is the biggest XR (extended reality) conference in the world. And this year, Modelry was a proud Silver Sponsor of the event.

Speaking in the Retail, eCommerce, and Advertising track, our CEO and Co-Founder Dalia Lasaite filled the floor with her presentation on “Becoming AR-Ready at Scale: Insights From Converting 3D Products By the Masses.”

Meanwhile, our marketing lead responsible for organizing everything swiftly avoided a nervous breakdown as the US border opened to Europeans the day before our CEO’s scheduled flight to attend the live conference!

Organized Live Webinar in Collaboration with 8th Wall

In collaboration with 8th Wall, we organized a live recorded webinar on “The growing demand for 3D models and how to optimize them for webAR.”

The webinar was hosted by 3D Automation Lead Pawel Nikiel from Modelry and Rigel Benton, Lead Product Designer at developer platform 8th Wall. Together, they shared insights from recent projects and tackled various themes, including:

  • Why the web is a more powerful place for AR compared to mobile.
  • How artists and companies can optimize 3D assets for WebAR to improve performance.
  • The role of AI and automation in 3D & AR projects now and into the future.

What’s in Store for 2022?

If anything, 2021 has shown that this is only the beginning. It’s no longer a question of whether to invest in 3D, but how. And for us as a company, this is the moment we have been waiting for.

In response to the shifting competitive landscape and explosion in new opportunities, 2022 will mark a new chapter for Modelry. Over the coming year, our focus will be on expanding our capacity, capabilities, and partnerships, as we redefine our vision of the industry and the role we play within it. Stay tuned!
